The Four Es: The Musts of Linear Hazardous Location Lighting

The Four Es: The Musts of Linear Hazardous Location Lighting

If you own or operate a warehouse with old HID lighting, then you may understand the struggle of explosion-proof fixtures that hum all day long, don’t provide proper light distribution, and jack up your electric bill. At 1000Bulbs, hazardous location lighting is designed to overcome those obstacles, whether you work in a warehouse, factory, ship port, workshop, petroleum refinery, gas station, or other location that requires Class I Division 2 lighting.

The answer is the PLTS-11959 and PLTS-11960, two LED linear hazardous location fixtures made of durable, explosion-proof design. They are ideal for areas with ignitable and combustible elements. While the PLTS-11959 replaces 150W metal halide fixtures and the PLTS-11960 replaces 250W metal halide fixtures, they both exemplify the four Es that are a must in your hazardous environment.

1. Easy to Install and Operate

PLT Solutions has designed the PLTS-11959 and PLTS-11960 to be as easy to install as they are to operate. Unlike the HID fixtures they are meant to replace, they illuminate instantly once they are turned on and don’t hum all day.

Designed to be surface mounted with an adjustable u-bracket, the fixtures can be aimed 30 degrees, 60 degrees, or 90 degrees to the left or right from a vertical downward direction. This allows you the freedom to direct your light where it needs to go in your facility for your employees’ safety.

2. Emittance of Soft and Uniform Light

These linear lighting fixtures emit uniform light distribution to illuminate your entire space and increase safety and reliability without sacrificing design. The PLTS-11959 and PLTS-11960 deliver superior performance at 135 LPW over HID fixtures.

3. Eco-friendly

Say goodbye to mercury and hello to energy savings. These are eco-friendly solutions with less maintenance and energy cost thanks to LEDs and the absence of mercury.

4. Explosion-proof

There are multiple classes and divisions for hazardous location fixtures that determine the classification of the area the fixture is built to withstand. To be certified, a fixture must undergo UL or C-UL testing to prove that it complies, and then be inspected at least four times a year.

The PLTS-11959 and PLTS-11960 both fall under Class I Division 2, meaning the fixtures are ideal for applications where flammable gases, vapors and liquids are present some of the time.
