PLT Solutions LED Downlights

PLT Solutions LED Downlights

At some point throughout your day, my bet is you've walked around and seen a downlight above you. PLT Solutions offers a wide range of different types of downlights that can be used in a wide range of commercial and residential applications. So in today’s post, let’s discuss pros of each one of these and where you might find them, how you might use them, and what PLT Solutions is going to offer for you.

LED Downlight with Medium Base Adapter

So let's just start with the basic, what we call LED down light with a medium base adapter. This is going to be more of a residential model and works with an existing can that you already have in place. You might have an incandescent or halogen light bulb already and you simply want to take that out. But instead of putting an LED light bulb in there, you want something that's going to give a little more reflectivity. These down lights have a recess and baffle which takes the palace of the light bulb.

So that is your everyday LED down light. If you're a contractor looking to buy something for some remodels, it's a perfect solution for that. If you're just at home and you've got six to eight cans that you're going to replace in your kitchen or living room, it's also a perfect solution.

Ultra Thin Disk Light

This next fixture is what we call an ultra thin disc light. These do not require can, so they are a great solution if you're looking to add fixtures to a place where there's not an existing light. A lot of home builders like these because it saves them the trouble of actually cutting out holes in the sheetrock in advance. You don't have to put a junction box anywhere, so it gives you a lot more range.

Surface Mount Light

Another option that's very easy is what we call just a regular surface mount light. These down lights do require a junction box. You don't have to have a can and it's very simple to install. The lens pops off and you're able to just screw the downlight into the junction box. Put the lens back on and you're good to go. These are available in a variety of color temperatures.

LED Downlights with Junction Box

Another option that I know contractors really like is the LED down light with junction box. Now this one also, again, doesn't require any sort of recess can. It comes with a junction box already on top, so you can cut your hole wherever you want. The wiring goes directly into the junction box, and the clips hold the light in place once you pop it into the hole.

LED Commercial Downlights

If you're in the need of a higher output commercial retrofit, PLT Solutions has you covered as well with LED commercial downlights, which come in either a 6, 8, or 10 inch diameter. These downlights consist of a driver and reflector, and require an existing recessed can. During installation, the reflector from the existing can is removed so that the LED downlight takes it’s place. At 5000K, this is going to give you a nice, crisp white light. And with 0-10 Volt dimming and operating at 120 to 277 Volts, it's going to work in almost every commercial application.

So when thinking LED down lights, just remember PLT Solutions has all your bases covered. If you have any questions or would like to make a purchase, give one of our knowledgeable lighting experts a call at 1-800-624-4480 or visit us at 1000bulbs.com.
