Satco Starfish Smart Downlights & Bulbs

If you are familiar with LED smart lighting, then you are aware of how convenient it can be. Smart lighting gives you the freedom to control your lights wirelessly with a smart phone. Last week, we introduced Satco’s new line of Starfish LED smart lights. These products use your WiFi and are controlled using the Starfish app, which can be downloaded to your phone from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, you’ll be able to easily sync each individual device to your phone and control them. In today’s post, we’ll take a look at the rest of the Starfish line which includes LED bulbs, downlights, and accessories.

Starfish Vintage LED Smart Bulbs

Designed to mimic turn-of-the-century lighting, Starfish vintage LED smart bulbs are ideal for use in open fixtures. These bulbs are tunable white. Using the dial or preset buttons on the app, you can adjust the color temperature from a warm white 2700K all the way up to daylight 5000K. You can also use the app to dim the brightness as needed and select some customizable effects.

Starfish LED A19 Smart Bulbs

Similar to the vintage bulbs, Starfish LED A19 smart bulbs can easily change the color temperature from a warm white through to a daylight light and dim the output. What sets these apart from the vintage bulbs, however, is the added ability of selecting RGB colors. This can be done using the RBG color wheel or preset buttons. There are also different customizable effects and preset scenes. One effect, called colorful, flashes through several colors you can choose. The app lets you adjust the speed, hue, and other settings. Colors can also be set to flash to the beat of sounds and music. These features also apply to the Starfish PAR38, BR30, and MR16 lamps.

Starfish LED Smart Downlights

Starfish LED smart downlights are available in two types, recessed and ultra-thin. The recessed downlights are available in 4 and 6-inch sizes and are used to retrofit existing cans. The ultra-thin downlights are used as a new installation without a can and are also available in 4 and 6-inch sizes. Like the vintage bulbs, both types are tunable white, dimmable, and have customizable effects and preset scenes.

Grouping Starfish Smart Products

One of the best features of these Satco products is the ability to sync everything together into a group by using the app. Grouped products can all be turned on, off, dimmed, and adjusted at the same time. You can have as many devices paired in a group as you want. Just keep in mind, however, that if you mix RGB capable products (such as the LED A19 bulbs) with products that are only tunable white, you will only be able to adjust all of them as tunable white.

Starfish Smart Plugs & Dimmers Switches

Satco rounds out their smart offerings with a line of Wi-Fi operated plugs and dimmer switches. When paired with the Starfish app, these devices are able to control regular fixtures or appliances around your home. Dimmer switches can be used to replace a standard dimmer switch, allowing you to remotely dim and control the lights connected to that switch.
